Development/ Restoration Fund:

Over the next few years we have to raise a lot of money, principally for major  re-wiring of the church (without which it may be the church will have to close for insurance purposes), there  are also roof works and other possibilities for improving our current facilities, in the pipeline.

For your information the Development Group are:

Rachael Barber (of Gordon Barber Funeral Directors), Simon Bransby,

Cathy D’Oyley, Martin and Rach Hartley, Ruth Lambert and Joyce Lincoln.

Please feel free to speak to anyone in the group who will be able to tell you how we are progressing. Do you have any ideas you would like to put forward to the Group?

St Catherine's Church family awayday 2018

A few of us from St Catherine's managed to get away together for the day at the Horstead center. A lovely day of fellowship as we reflected back over the last 12 months at St Catherine's and talked and prayed about opportunities for the next 12 months. Click here to see some photos.

A big thank you for the 40 Acts through lent at Catherine's

During Lent, St Catherine’s has been living lent generously.

Over 40 of you have directly taken part and many others have donated money or prayed for all involved. Some of you have walked many miles to pray for the area. Some of you have knocked on many doors to ask if anyone wants prayer. Some of you prepared and served lunch to all at Tot stop and their carers.

Some of you have delivered donuts and chatted to among others… The funeral directors, teachers at Mile cross primary, the Extend exercise group, charity shops, Barclays bank, Hairdressers, Anglia Fishing, Norwich Vaping, the Norman centre and the betting shop. Some of you donated sanitary products to our local library to help address period poverty. Some of donated to our souper soup run.

Some of you walked up to random strangers and gave them flowers. Some of you gave up your Saturday to pick up rubbish from the estate. Some of you did your own random acts of kindness. Taking a gift to a new neighbour or leaving a thank you note and chocolate for the milkman to name but a few.

Over lent we had 24 requests for prayer.

We picked up 8 bin bags full of rubbish from the estate.

We gave out 78 bunches of flowers to 78 strangers to bless their day.

And we gave away 267 donuts and one bag of apples!

But, the challenge doesn’t stop here. If you like, the real challenge starts here!

Over lent we’ve been studying the book of James. He wrote, Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Love is a verb. It is something to do. Deliberately acting out of love can change the way we think and feel and it can change how others think and feel about the church. To teach his disciples how to live, Jesus showed them how to live and respond to the needs around them. The cross was the ultimate lesson in love.  As we meet here this morning, we celebrate what Jesus did for us. Let us at St Catherine’s go on putting his love into action and showing those in this area how much we care.
